Ever since I was a kid, I've loved being given a goal, then a set of constraints to adapt around to achieve the best result I can. After moving on from bunk bed ships and tallboy forts, I indulged my passion for problem solving first through engineering, then front-end development and have now settled comfortably in product design.

Design fulfils me in a way that my other roles didn't, because of the closer connection I have to the people I'm designing for. I care about recognising and connecting with my fellow humans who use the software, and I do my best to make their experience that little bit better.

In my metaphorical design toolkit, I believe it's essential to work across not just the visuals and static user interfaces, but also the interaction design and information architecture. I like to use the analogy of designing a bathroom - the look and feel of a bathroom are definitely appreciated, but it's also the functional touches like a frosted window or the direction the door swings open that make the experience feel that much better.

Outside of work, I enjoy running outside (very slowly), listening to the latest pop albums, and playing local co-op games with the hubby.

Here's how I help my teams:

• Research: I'll get out of the office and speak to the people who use the software, understanding who they are, what they're trying to do, the environment they're working in and the resources available to them
• Deliver simple, scalable end-to-end interface designs that work for your business and for your developers
• Contribute components to the Design System
• Evaluate design usability through testing and measure design impact to de-risk product development & inform product strategy
• Identify realistic opportunities to incorporate into product roadmaps
• Collaborate across cross-functional teams to keep key stakeholders aligned & involved across the business
